Romans 1:16 "I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes."
Like computers, life can be joyful at times, and at others can be full of trouble and sorrow. With the rising cost of fuel, an exponential increase in natural disasters, talks of terrorism, and a seeming downward spiral for humanity as a whole, it seems like there is no solution in sight for the problems we face. Fortunately, there is a real solution.
John 3:16-17 tells us that "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send His son to condemn the world, but that the world, through Him, might be saved." Jesus Christ died on the cross for us while we were yet sinners, providing the ultimate sacrifice and allowing us to have an intimate relationship with God. While coming to know Jesus does not mean that you will no longer experience troubles, it does mean that you will not have to go through them alone. Jesus tells us in John 16:33 that "In this world, you will have trouble. But be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world."
That is good news indeed! In an unsure world, it is good to know that we can trust in the sure and unchanging hand of God Himself to be with us through the good times and the bad times. He has told us in Hebrews 13:5 that He will never leave us or forsake us.
Do you know Jesus? If not, you can meet Him today and begin a new life in Him. He offers the free gift of salvation and eternal life. He has the power to break the bondage of sin. His addictive nature can overpower any addiction this world has to offer. Even the name of sickness must bow to His name. Death couldn't hold Him. There are not words to describe His greatness. He is the creator of the universe and everything in it. And He is genuinely interested in you. How do you get to know Him? Simple.. Just begin to talk to Him. Even though He knows your situation, it is good to tell Him what you are going through. Acknowledge that He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. Ask Him to be Lord of your life and allow His saving grace and mercy to saturate every part of you. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins and to bring you into His kingdom. Let Him know that you accept His free gift of salvation.
At the moment you accepted Jesus, He came into your heart by His Spirit, and now His presence and nature lives and dwells in your heart (1 Corinthians 6:19). You did not merely become a better person, you were "born again" spiritually as a brand new person! Now He wants you to learn to live your life according to the new nature of His Spirit inside you. The Bible says "Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons!" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
It really is that simple. The Word tells us in Ephesians 2:8-9 that "It is by grace that you are saved through faith, not by our own works, lest any man should boast." This is only the beginning. There is so much more to God's Word that we cannot possibly fathom it all in our lifetime. If this short look at the Word has helped you in anyway, be sure to leave us a message on the contact page. Also, if you have just accepted Christ, be sure to find a good church home to help you in your journey. Talk to God regularly and allow Him to guide you in all you do.
